We refer to the 2022 vintage as our "reset" year. Building on the insights gained from our initial harvest, we pruned the vineyard more rigorously to restore balance and vigor to the vines. This approach resulted in a smaller overall yield but contributed to the resilience of the vines and the production of more expressive fruit. We experimented with field blending different blocks that showed compatibility in 2021, creating larger, more integrated fermentations.
The 2022 wines exhibited slightly lower extract and intensity. To honor the vintage's unique characteristics, we extended post-fermentation macerations compared to 2021 before pressing.
As with the previous year, the Chardonnay was handpicked, whole-cluster pressed, and allowed to ferment using native yeasts. The fermentation process was lengthy, extending into the spring, ultimately producing another elegant, complex, and pure wine.
